Default Transmission question

My stock transmission (2002 Mustang GT) is making a noise that my mechanic thinks is a bearing problem. But I think he is guessing.

1. Should I try to have it fixed or replace the transmission? I'm leaning more towards the latter, but am not sure if I can afford it. The transmission has 30,000 miles. How much do you think it might cost to have it fixed?

2. If I do upgrade, any ideas of what transmission to get. The car is used as a very fun daily driver and I don't really have any interest in building a race car. However, I would like to buy something that would allow me to do a few more mods in the future.

Upgrade to the TKO FTW. It will cost more to upgrade but if you have the money its a good time to do it.
