rear end gear install?

Default rear end gear install?

how hard would it be to isntall ford racing gears on my own with help froma buddy. a shop wants to charge 300 bucks for an install and new barrings etc.... should i try to do it my self and save a couple hundred bucks or should i give it to the shop.... ive done most of my suspension mods on my own.... shocks struts springs sway bars lower control arms strut tower brace... what do u guys think, should i give it a shot or is it too high of a risk of screwing it up... let me know

should just be a simple swap as long as your sticking with Ford Racing gears - gonna need a bearing press though, or at least access to one

what about an indicator? You still have to indicate the gears to make sure they are properly aligned.

300 bucks isnt to bad of a deal. Make em throw in some synthetic lube while there at it (will increase your RWHP slightly and make the rearend last longer)

Remeber, if you don't do this right, it goes boom.

I bought a magnetic base dial indicator from Summit for about $15. You can definitely save some money doing it yourself, and as long as you follow the instructions you should have no problem. Since you've done the suspension work yourself you obviously have some level of mechanical experience, so go for it. Just make sure you do it right.
