You can heli-coil it for <50 bucks.

true dat homes...

Hit up Advance Auto parts... I've seen a spark plug rethreading kit before in there
yeah but you have to take the heads off to do this so the shavings don't go into the cylinder. i figure most of that 500 to fix is labor.

ditto on the SVO heads but the price is 900 PER cylinder head. and the intake is even pricier.

don't know much about mmr. racer02gtstang says good stuff about them. i know the modularpowerhouse 2.5 heads are kick *** though

A head change kit is only like $110 and a few hours of your time.

The Ford Racing/SVO heads are the best heads...they are not cheap but have more threads in the spark plug well.
well isnt that nice of ford to address their defect with expensive aftermarket heads, first thing you should do is research the class action lawsuit against ford for this issue. apparantly it happens on their triton motors too. id go with MMR heads and VT stage 2 cams while youre at it, if you can afford it, get a forged crank if the NOS will push you near 400HP just to be safe

If you going to buy forged anything buy forged pistons and rods. I would worry about the crank last.

hmm i did the forging all at once, but i figured the forged crank would be number 1 since the nitrous might push him over 400 with a good tune. just my opinion but the rods and pistons also need to be forged

Those heads were available since 97 long before the 99's started popping plugs...The 04 GT heads have more threads then the 99-03. Too little too late though.

Fox Lake and Renegade are also good options.

You'd be hardpressed to find a cast crank that has failed due to power at those levels. If he's gonna be under 500 rwhp (reasonable arbitrary number, lol), he won't need a forged crank. It'll just be 8 extra pounds of rotating mass.
