use 87. you have a stock motor.

if you need to run a higher octane, you are only masking a problem. something is up with your car if you need higher than 87 octane for it to run smooth.

never had any problems on 87. i only used 93 this tank to see if would help with my fuel delivery issue.

93? Where the hell are you guys? On the West Coast (Nor Cal, Arizona, even Colorado) I can only find a max of 91 octane. I've always wondered if a 93 canned tune would be safe since I can only find 91

I remember the first day I got my carI read that manual from cover to cover, though I somehow missed the part when it says how to set the speed sensitive volume for the Mach460.

As your car ages the injectors become less efficient, our fuel filters get clogged all the time, gas quality is not always as good as it's labeled. Why detonate 87 gas under these conditions when you can play it safe with 89 or 93??

I'm assuming you don't mean pinging by that...

the answer to why run 87: octane rating has nothing to do with the quality or cleanliness of the fuel, and everything to do with it's resistance to detonation.

my parents were in nebraska recently, they said 89 was cheaper than 87... so they bought 89 for their rental... wtf is the deal with that?

Around here gas stations have two tanks, one for premium(93), and one for regular(87), and when you get the medium grade it mixes the two together(89). But as for my car it says to use premium fuel only. My g/f's94 gtwill detonate like crazy and her car is stock with no f/i, so we have to run 93 in it.

89-90 is actually cheaper here in Nebraska then 87 because corn is subsidized.

Why are a certain few people in this thread even argueing. You do not get better gas mileage with it unless the 87 octane you have is pre-detonating; and if that is happening without some sort of power adder your engine has a big problem.

I was looking threw the manual today at work becasue I had nothing to do saw it and jsut thought of how people always argue for it; i guess you know better than ford engineers.
