just regular paint? use any primer? did you just spray or did you scuff up the surface a little bit? i planed on using some really fine sand paper scuffing it up, maybe a coat of primer then a few coats of black (gloss or flat?) and a few coats of clear coat

I am planning on doing the same thing, but with some 99 gt style wheels. From what I have found, I believe that its very similarto the process for painting interior parts. It is very important to clean them well first and then use mineral spirits to remove any oils from you cleaner. Paint several coats, and wet sand. Do several clear coats. I am planning on using a high temp paint. Hopefully it will turn out well...

Any other tips, please let me know

I would suggest putting a coat or 2 of primer before you paint, might give a little better finish and should help the paint stick a bit better.
