Default stock block ?

how much whp can a 99 cobra block handle. right now i ave a supercharged 99 cobra putting down 440whp and 470wtq. can i turn the power up a little and not have to worry about my block? or do i need to do some upgrades before i can put down some more power? if so, what upgrades?

Your right about at the limit of the stock shortblock. To be safe you'd need new rods and pistons (forged). The crank and block itself are both good, the rods and pistons are the weak points.

Rods (h beams): Manley, Modmax, Eagle, Scat
Pistons: CP, Diamond, Manley ...would be my first choices then... Ross, Mahle, Wiseco

Cost: figure around 1400 to 1800for the rods, pistons, rings and bearings depending on the brands.Labor is a whole different story...You need to pull and disassemble the motor. Things start to add up quickly.
