Default 4.6 DOHC Motor

Ok my friend works for Napa and we were talking with his manager about the discounts he gets on special orders, and he can get a 4.6 DOHC motor for me. Brand new for 3,950 is that a good deal and worth the money? And how hard would the install be?

Complete? And what year? It's a "deal" but not much of one. Worth the money? Depends on how much power you want later... either way you will still need a supercharger, and if that's the case, the 2v will still give you more than you can use on the street.

Yes complete expect oil pan, and wiring harness. Yeah I know i will need a supercharger but I know with a DOHC I can get better gains over a 2V and plus it can handle more power than a stock 2V.

No it can't. Unless it has forged rods/pistons it cannot handle anymore hp than your typical factory N/A 2v & 4v. 450rwhp.

BTW, many of those engines from Napa are rebuilt pieces of crap, meaning theoriginal crank still may be in use, inspection is poor & many just end upin pieces again.I've had a few friends buy them & have issues right away. I wouldn't do it.

not true the only thing forged in a cobra is the crank. still need the rods and pistons. you can get better gains yes, but you could also spend the money you will pay for the motor and surpass the stock dohc in performance. cams, heads, used f/i no matter what you do it will be a gt, if you have the money to do a motor swap, might as well sell your car and just buy a termi
