Stock exhaust? Well since I’ve had 7 Mustangs (GT’s & Cobra and have changed the exhaust within 1 week of ownership) I would have to say that if you’re an old woman and or man, the stock exhaust would suffice…

But since most of us are under 30, and we like things loud & like to brag about what exhaust we have on our Stangs, I would say that the stock exhaust absolutely sucks *****.

man i can tell you, no matter if im 70 year old, if i get a muscle car, it got to sound like one, that was my 1st mod, i got the car on monday and on thursday i had the flows with no cats.

Real quick, have yall ever drilled out the back of a stock muffler and thrown on turn downs ???

and espwith long tubes and O/R mid pipe .. it doesn't sound bad at all ...

now thats the cheap way to go .. but honestly yall should give it a try .. you'd be surprised

Stock was too quiet for me and actually someone laughed at me one time when I rev'vd (another mustang owner with a flowmaster cat back). So then I upgraded to Borla...and I will never go back.

For a stock system it doesnt sound all that bad. Its kinda quiet but when you get on it, it sounds good. Still sounds better than a stock LS1 with a factory catback IMO.

I'm one of those old farts [8D]
The stock system has a very nice sound to it, but even *I* feel it should be a wee bit louder.
I'm not into setting off alrams, waking the neighbors etc.
I got over that, 20 years ago.

That being said, the stock system does one thing better than any other system out there that I have heard and that is the stock system has zero drone.
Every aftermarket system drones, some more than others, but they all drone to some degree.

I went with a Magnaflow catback system 15671 and it is very nice because at idle or cruising around town it is about +1 louder than stock.
However when you stomp on it, the system screams.
It does drone at 2k though but not loud enough where you have to scream to hold a conversation.
Just a humm, and mostly under load like going up a hill etc.
I have a vert BTW which makes drone worse.

My system is breaking in nicely and the tone has changed since I installed it over a month ago.
It has gotten deeper with more of a rumble to it.
Very nice!

One last thing, my mileage has gone UP approximately 2 mpg since installing the system.
