Max speed in third with 4.10's?

So I saw somewhere here that you shouldn't be going into 4th (aka overdrive) at WOT...so if you can't make it through the 1/4 before third runs out, are you supposed to just stop hitting the gaswhile you're still racing thestrip when you hitaround 95mph with 4.10's? I'm confused!

I dont think 4:10's are made for the 1/4--IMO. My g/f's 94 Gt 5 speedhas 4:10's in it (dont get me wrong I love them) but at the end of the 1/8 I'm goin into fourth gear, and I bet her car would be in 5th gear in the 1/4, and most cars dont have any git up and go in 5th gear.

Would'nt 4:30's be overkill? I mean you are trying to race your car not pull out a tree stump right? Personally I prefer to stick with my stock gears, that way I am still faster than you top speed
