God, that would have been nice! A Procharger kit is close in price to a KB kit. I've got close to $6k in mine with a few upgrades.

Either charger is top-notch quality. You will get a little more power out of a base Procharger kit over thebase Vortechbecause of the intercooler and the ability to run a little more timing, but the Vortech make really great #'s too. Changing the oil in the self contained unit is not that bad of a task as alot of people make it out to be.

If I was planning on staying with the stock shortblock I would probably have gone procharger for the intercooler, but the Ps1c has some pretty low WHP limits, so I went with vortech. If I could do it all over again i would have gotten either the novi 2000 or upgraded to a vortech T trim just to make sure I didn't run out of blower down the road (aka with a forged shortblock etc).

So far as the intercooler and tapping the pan, both are pretty easy. The procharger will get you out the door cheaper than a vortech + DIY intercooler kit, but if you do it right you can put together a DIY intercooler under 500 bucks thats better than the procharger one.

Its a toss up really.

ive had a vortech on one of my cars and i loved it, but i really like my procharger now, 3k is like ripping your head back with a procharger, like theres nothing before and then it kicks in immediatly

You can't go wrong with either.

There's pros and cons to the whole oil thing. ProCharger oil is easy to change but you have to use their oil. Vortech oil is changed with the motor's oil but there is an additional point of failure and any debris from a failed head unit or motor will likely take out the other. In the end, it doesn't matter. Buy whichever suits your budget as they both will meet your goal.

You need the stock pulleys for either unit.

if you look at the prices of an aftercooled vortech kit, it's pretty close to an intercooled pro charger.

Which ever is cheapest and most complete at the time of purchase....lol....really both setupshave pros and cons,....can't go wrong with either IMO....
