I usaully shift right at 2k. I get really good mpg doing that, my last tank I averaged 24mpg. Also if I am cruising at 40 I will have it in 5th, keeping them rpm's down helps me at the gas pump.

I usually shift at around 2500-3000, and when racing around 5400. Any higher than that and you lose too much hp and tq. But maybe thats why I avg 15 mpg...

ORIGINAL: Fizzics Boy

20mph = 1-2
30mph = 2-3
40mph = 3-4
50mph = 4-5

Stock gears bog to much and I still get 23-24 mpg shifting at those speeds.
Im about the same. I try to shift under 2k for saving gas as much as possible, but that sound on a nice slight incline right in the 21-22k level is so nice. it will change tho with mods. im usually a bit lower than fizz up there. i check the speed and look at the rpms. if i am over 2k, i shift unless i know i will need the lower gear.

Doesn't that bog the engine in an intense way? I thought when you bog an engine like that it can be hard on the crank barings. I usually don't go below 55 in 5th.

When I'm not getting on it or driving hard I drive like the starter of this post. Sometimes I shift higher when its a nice day outside, the windows are down, and sounds nice to let the car rev to about 3.5 or 4; like someone said it must be a sweet spot.

Normal driving Ill shift anywhere from 2800-3500 (dependent on gear). And when racing 6000-6250. If I try to shift any lower, with my combo my car will bog. But if the weathers nasty or the cops are around Ill shift @ 2500.

Well, it makes the engine work harder, but if you take care of your engine like you should and don't OVER rev it, then it shouldn't. Engines don't mind running up a little, that's why they have a red line, because they can rotate up to that speed before breaking. You're a lot more likely to find something wrong with your engine at 5000 RPMs than you are at 2000 RPMs though.
