Default Oil leak after tap

Well I punched the oil pan today and tapped it...the threads looks like garbage though. I put a crap load of teflon paste to the male threads and although I'm not expecting an oil leak what can I use to stop it leaking in case it does? Any thoughts?

It was quite the pain in the ace I have to say. I don't feel that confident in my work right now.[&:]

I went through the same thing. I bet you ran the whole tap through didnt you? Your supposed to only run it halfway through because if you go all the way the hole is too big. The remedy is to retap with a standard 1/2 inch tap and use a brassadapter fitting that is 1/2 inch on the male side and the smaller size on the female side. Go to the hardware store to find one. Its a pain but when its right youll be happy with it.

No, only ran half the tap but the hole may be a little oval-ish. I had a hell of a time getting it started. Well it's not leaking...yet...so I'll just keep my fingers crossed. If I find later that it's screwed up too much, i'll try your remedy. Thanks.
