Well I was just on a funeral in Arlington Tx and we had the Passport 8500 hooked up in the Govt van and it actually saved me several times. It was all highway driving and I kept that 20 pax van rolling at 85-90 the whole way. The guy that brought it said that the Passport 8500 is the best radar detector besides the Valentine.

Yeah, they are defiantly worth the money. It will pay for it's self the first time it saves you.

If it saves you from a 350 dollar ticket, you got lucky.

A radar detector is a tool, not a replacement keeping your speed within reason. A lot of times cops will use an instant on technique rendering your detector useless to you because by the time you get the warning you're already tagged and the red/blue is flashing in your mirror.

just make sure u dont waste your money on a radar scrambler. its proven that they do absolutly nothing and are a way for the company to make money.

thats what i'm worried about, and i don't do much freeway driving so it won't help me out too much like it did for jdan. i'm still thinkin about it. i can get the blue LED one for 170 + 13 for shipping and 7.5 tax through my work best buy.

I got the S2 from my work (Best BUY) and I love it. i didn't want the wire to hang because I hate the look. But as they said, if it saves you once then it was worth the money. Nothing beats a day at the court house and points on your record.

Ok, I have the Escort SR-7 with the ZR-3 lazer shifter, and to reply to dan's comment...the lazer shifter works great. I just got done driving from Charleston, SC to Seattle, and believe me I didnt do the speed limit at any point in the trip. Wings, this probably doesnt help much but i just wanted to comment on Dan's post
