Really. I thought you could compress it back into the caliper ?

no, that's only with the front. on these cars the rears need to be compressed and rotated simultaneously, i think it's because of the intergrated parking brake

+ 1 on this tool. It makes life MUCH easier! Autozone does rent and sell this tool. You can also purchase a cubed shaped tool that has little nipples (I just like saying that word) on it that is universal that gets the job done, but renting this tool makes the task much easier.

Wow I had no idea that there was a tool like the one pictures above in the red box. I used the cube shaped one and it was a PITA on my car.
