Reverse gear grinds EVERY TIME!

RE: Reverse gear grinds EVERY TIME!
Reverse gear doesn't have a synchro. On my car (I have a 99 GT, T45 with 92k on the clock) it's a bit hard to get it into reverse. I do what most of the previous posters do - put it in fourth or first, then go to reverse. Sometimes just putting it into first, letting out the clutch ever so slightly to rock the car forward and then putting it into reverse will get the input shaft moving and line up everything and reverse will fall into place.

Yeah, see I try reverse the first time, it grinds, then I put it into 1st, then back to reverse!
I'm going to try going from 1st to reverse, if that grinds, I'll try 4th then reverse. Thanks guys...

Get a steeda firewall adjuster. I have the same problem thinking of trying that. You can adjust the firmness of you clutch pedal. It almost fells like the trannydoesnt disengage all of the way.

I also have this problem, shifting it into a forward gear first always solves it. I usaully go 3rd to R. Shifting it into a foreward gear first allows the flywheel to slow down.

Mine did the same, and like everyone says, i always go to first then to reverse. Also I found double clutching works to.
Your lucky! My reverse really ground the other day, and then I lost 4th gear. Need a whole new transmission. Babies in the shop right now.
