Default Fogged up headlights

So not too long ago my 97 cobra got hit by some idiot in a stratus and there's a brand new left headlight but the right one is still aged. I met someone with a 98 cobra and has immaculate looking headlights -- said to wet sand it with 1000 grid sandpaper and it'll come right off.I did it, and it only made it a LOT worse. So now I've tried 2000 and it looks a little bit better, I guess. It looks perfect when wet, but as it dries it begins to fog up again. ANYBODY know how to get this right? Thanks in advance y'all

I think Mothers makes a kit for sanding head lights. I'm sure if you get that it comes with instructions that anyone can follow.

i wetsanded my old cars headlights, it worked pretty good. i just up the grit and finish off with metal polish. the reason i did it was i had to get one headlight replaced, so one was brand new and the other was fogged up like a biatch.
