RE: air silencer?
it silences the air coming into the engine! but i would remove it soyour car gets more air into the engine and u can hear the air going into the engine. and thereis a sticky on how to do this in the tech section

RE: air silencer?
it takes like 5 mins to do. look at the plastic cover that is on the intake filter connected to that going to your fenderwall is a black peice that restricts the air going threw. although it doesnt really give HP or TQ your engine will run more efficent due to the extra air coming in. and if you wanna take it a step up replace the filter with k&n most people do this combo and skip getting a aftermarket intake. after you take the silencer you will notice the size of the whole the air is coming in compared to what it was before..

RE: air silencer?
I know this has been argued more times than I can count, but won't there just be more air being pulled in from the hot engine bay? I took mine out for a couple days, and if anything, noticed a slight decline in performance. It just felt like it was running 100%, so I put it back in and I'm fine again.

sounds like it's gone....take the plastic cover off and look if there is a big ugly plastic tube attached haha
from my pov, my car is slightly moreresponsive at least higher up in rpms after the air silencer mod and k&n.....
I am one that skipped the cai and just did the k&n and air silencer....I spent 60 bucks total....most cold air kits go for 180.....that's why I'm 120 bucks ahead on getting my 3:73s nowbut it's your car
just my .02
