The GT and Cobra do have the same style pumps on 96/97 but you have a 98 which is a bastard year. You have to modify the basket to use a pre 98 pump or order a 98 specific pump from Ford or Vortech.

I've been searching for a fuel pump to fit my car and I found the same thing that you said droptop... what a pia.
Tim at MPH said the Holley 255lph pump would work, but I think I'm gonna have to order the Vortech pump.

The Vortcech 255 is the only large pump i have ever heard a 98 owner say was plug and play besides the Ford 190lph...but Tim would know if the Holley fits better then I.
