im in the process of changing my fuel pump, i thought they were supposed to twist and come right out but mine seems to not want to. any one have any suggestions?

what year do you have and the fuel pump is bolted to the gas tank i belive it is 6 nuts

i have a 1998, i took the cap off that goes over the pump, and thats as far as i got.

there should be a little lip the you can tap with a screwdriver to turn it. Put something (like a rag) on the end of the screwdriver so you don't throw a spark.

should it go clock wise or counter clock wise?

Should be a brass ring to unscrew then twist it and work the entire assembly out.

well, i got the pump out, then i go to replace it with the BBK pump i got from a local parts store....i tell them year engine etc...they order me a pump when i get it, it says 1996-1998 cobra, i tell them i have the single overhead cam 4.6 not the dual like the cobra engine. they then say its the same pump. the "cobra" pump then does not fit......


i hate idiots at the local car parts stores!
