Default Misfiring??? How can I tell???

Yeah, so lately, after I brought my car home from the track, its been making a different noise. At idle, it used to be smooth, like flows should be...but lately it's been kinda sputtering, like one cylinder isn't firing right? I really don't know enough about cars to tell if it's a misfire, but I could take a video to show you guys if that helps?

Also, when I am just cruising, at like say 50-55mph in 4th, it sounds different, like one cyl. isn't firing right either. I'm sorry for be so vague, but thats the best I can describe it. How can I tell for sure, and will the car throw a code if its misfiring...and if it is...how the hell do you fix it???

Thanks.

Is there any loss of power, hesitating, stalling, sputtering? If not, then it's not a very good chance it's misfiring. And yes, your car should throw a Check Engine light for sure.

Replace the fuel filter.

Edit..... Reading your second paragraph, if it's doing it at a certain RPM, then it could be a bad COP.

Not too much of a loss of power, or not noticeably enough? But it's not only at that rpm, just the one that I noticed alot while driving home tonight.

And my 2nd gear pull was bad tonight...a mazda 3 hatch walked me. But I wasn't racing, just to 55mph then coasted. It was worse than I thought, but not THAT bad. I'll take a video tomorrow maybe.

Having a cylinder down would be a huge butt dyno alert. That's 12.5% of your power GONE!

Go get a REAL diagnostic check done, not a code checker thingy, and I bet that can tell you something. I am stil saying Fuel filter (which wouldn't be apparent from a diagnostic check) or a COP
