Default pi swap

I just called a mustang shop and they said $1500 or $2000 for labor. So I added every thing up and thats like $3200 for 30-45 hp. What else can I do to make this 96 mustang faster. I would get 100 shot but alot people say that it will blow my motor and its not there all the time. My best is 9.35 in the 1/8 mile. But I want to be around 8.60s. I dont know what else to do/.

Get the parts used and find a place to do it for $1,000. I'm doing the work myself and I got everything I needed for the swap and some other things shipped for $700. You'll get about 40 horse at the wheels with a PI swap and you'll see more gains with other bolt ons.

1500 sounds a bit high. i think acer paid like $800 for just the labor.

You could probably get the whole job done for less than $1,500 including parts and labor.

Your best bet is to find a used PI motor, take it from me as I went through the swap!

True, but it's a good learning experiance. ... Next time I'll just get a whole PIengine. It's so much easier.
