Default What can i do

I have been getting horriby bad gas milage , like 14-15 mpg highway. I Have a bbk fenderwell intakeand i took a look at it the otherday and its pretty dusty but i didn think it was too bad. I was wondering what i cando o get better gas mileage? I thought about changing the spark plugs and the filter. Anyoneknow how hard it is to change the spark plugs? And does anyone know where i can get a good replacement air filter? I have checked the air pressure in the tires and i keep it correct. If anyone can help i would appreciate. BTW the car is a 2000 gt 5 spd. with about 64k on it.

Just do a tune up. Plugs, fluids, oil change. Get a K&N Filter. They're not too expensive.

If you're mildly mechanically inclined you can do a basic tune up. Spark plugs are pretty easy. Just need a ratchet and extensions.

The biggest difference will come by regulating the heavy foot on the right better. Shift around 2000 rpm, and don't gun it as much. Also, changing your air filter, and fuel filter may help as well.

One thing you could check is wheen alignment - that can affect gas mileage.
Changing sparkplugs is easy, there is a car maintenance link from the "tech artivles and howtos" on the main page of this section
New fuel filter may also help.
How you drive is a very big part of the picture also, at what RPM do you usually shift? Is your highway communte trafficy?
That is all I am sure about to be honest.

It doesn't really count as highway mileage if it's a lot of stop and go. Like I-95 at about 7:30 in the morning, lol.

Get rid of the fenderwell intake. They make your car run rich.

65k miles is a bit 2 low a mileage to go changing spark plugs and wires.... but it couldnt hurt! If you have the BBK intake do you not have a reuseable/cleanable air filter? You shouldnt need a new one... just clean/oil it! They are made to be re-used! also change the fuel filter... if you have never done that than Id bet dollars 2 doughnutz that is your problem!
