When you get on it, the gears are short, but you accelreate like a bat out of hell (if you have traction). Regular driving around town is no problem at all, and you can get into 5th gear at about 35mph. Gas mileage has gone down somewhat, but not too bad. Driving mixed highway and city, with a lot of traffic, I'm getting between 17 and 18.5 mpg. I also get on it quite a bit, and I'm sure I could still see around 20mpg or so if I were to really try to conserve gas.

5th gear at 35mph?, that doesn't sound enticing to me. I've been throwing around the gear ? too and since I do have FI, I don't know if gears would help or hinder me since 1st and 2nd come and go really quick already, I can take 3rd to 90 and 4th to 130+. I use 5th exclusively for freeway crusing since at 80 it's about 2500rpm in 5th....

if your car has the power a lower gear like an 3.73 would be better so you can power through gears not just fly through them in 1 second your car isent going anyware then.

I have 4.10s in mine and if I was going to use it more for track I would have gotten 4.30. but for driving on the street 4.10 is great.

Since you have F/I it would be a terrible decision to go with a 4.30 gear. You will run out of gear by the end of the 1/4 mile unless you got a really tall tire to help compensate. If I had future F/I plans, which I don't, I would have went with no more than a 3.90 probably.(although a 4.10 would be doable IMO)
And 5th gear at 35 is just when I'm cruising around, and it keeps the RPM's down so that I don't burn up too much gas.
