Default Shifting problem

My 02 might have a little problem that i wanted to run by you guys. whenever i shift from 2nd to 3rd it sounds like a hard knock wheni release clutch. Kinda sounds like it pops into gear... if i let off the clutch real easy, its not very noticeable, but what fun is that :P So if i go from 1st to 2nd and just release clutch normally sounds like the rear is hitting on something.. it drives real real smooth.. no probs, but i can feel that knock.. could it be driveshaft?? someone said it might be my gears.. whatu think

it only makes the sound when you let it out? can you feel anything in the shifter moving/griding when you let it out?

If its when you let it out, its probably either the TOB, or maybe nothing at all. Is it really noticable, or just a very quiet sound? Does it do it alot more when drivign hard?

Lets say im in first gear and the instant that i put it into second gear i feel a hit around the driveshaft area. Feels like something hits or moves.. sounds like a "BOOM". This happens everytime i shift from 1st to 2nd or 2nd to 3rd. Besides that the car drives like a dream. Anyone have any ideas

Mine makes a similar noise, I think it's just from slop in the drivetrain, I heard that if you go with the aluminum drive shaft it helps some on the noise, but not sure if thats true.

I have this same problem, I brought it to the dealer (still have a warranty) the tech drove it and said that it is a normal thing for these transmissions. For me it just sounds like a knock when I go from 1-2 and sometimes 2-3, but its not loud at all.

RWD vehicles have inherently more "slop" in the drivetrain than FWD (manual transmission accentuate this to some degreee) and I have noticed that the drivetrain in our cars has a bit more than other RWD cars I've owned (a Mercedes 300E, and a couple Miatas). However with appropriate awareness of this, and acquired skill, there should not be any "booms" or other nasty sounds. It's common to get a bit of chugging when shifting in the lower gears and not getting the revs right (you'll see trucks do this all the time), and sometimes you get some mild clunking/chunking when tooling around a parking lot at low speeds--but if it happens all the time regardless of how you shift then somethings wrong...
