I've got a 96 GT and my transmission has been acting up for a while now. When im just cruising, the transmission sometimes likes to shift back and forth unnecessarily. There is no slipping, and the transmission shifts fine when I accellerate. I notice it the most when im going along about 35, but it still bothers up to about 65/70. It doesnt seem like its shifting a full gear though. Do the transmissions have like a secondary high/low type gear? The change in RPM when it shifts is only a couple hundred give or take.Strangely we have a 96 F350 7.3 liter diesel that had the same trouble. I'm thinking it could be a pump in the transmission going bad, not putting out a consistent amount of pressure. Let me know what you think, any help would be greatly appreciated.

when your torque convertor locks it locks at a lower rpm, unlocked in 4th gear at 40 mph is like 1700 rpm, locked is 1200 rpm.

do you get the same result with od on and off?

Ya, I sure do. At least at low speeds like that.

the problem is fixed with an aftermarket torque converter, tuner (to turn the pressure all the way up) and a transmission cooler.
