Its depends how u look at it.If u get it and dont want to mod it or not much anyways then 96-98 is consider the better one but if u want to modify the hell out ofit the 5.0 is the better one

94-95 are worst, because they still only have the potential of a 5.0, most of these guys make the 5.0 sound like it sucks, it doesn't it was a great platform engine for over 30yrs, the 4.6 2v engine isn't any better than the 5.0. Now the 96-98 cobras, as said earlier have 300hp, and have much more potential because they are 4v unlike 96+ 2v GT's. NA 5.0/4.6(2v) can get around 300-350rwhp, NA 4.6(4v) can go beyond 400rwhp.

U have to remember u can drop a stroker kit in a 5.0 and be well over the 400rwhp and for cheaper then the 4.6 4v
