I have never had any major rust issues with any Ford I have owned. It all depends on where you live too. Coastal regions are going to oxidize/ rust cars quicker because of the salty air. Northern areas where there is alot of snow will too. Preventative maintenance FTW! I catch hell from my buddies all the time because I drive Fords mostly. They say, "Ford circled all their mistakes". I say "to own a Ford is to love a Ford".

RE: Fords are notorious for rust?
My firends used to get on me about owning a ford. This is my second stang i had a 95 with 165,000 miles and i just sold it for more than i bought it for because the car looks brand new. My firend has hada honda civic (broke down on him) a acura integra (sold because it was breaking down on him) and now an audi (selling becuase he spent 4500 on it the first week he had it to fix **** to make it driveable and it still needs ****) Now he's getting a hooked up focus zx3 and he saids he loves the reliablility of a ford. My stangs start up every morning when i turn the key and they never failed me.... I don't think i'll ever buy anything that isn't a ford or at least american screw jap cars. If i wanted a plastic car i would drive around in my baby couzin's hot wheels.

Rust isn't really a problem with any modern era car that isn't driven in salt/snow, due to advancements in sheetmetal technology...Tell your friends to STFU...and get a clue.
