Default Intermittent Low Oil Light??

Twice now the indicator for 'low oil' goes on - - but I know the oil level's fine (checked dip and just changed oil, too). If you shut down the engine and restart, the light goes out.

Huh? Sensor? Anyone? What's a guy to do?

Change the sender. If you have a manual gauge to check it that would be good too.

I dont think you have to worry about the pump, you have an oil pressure guage for that. Were you parked on a slope when it came on? I know mine has come on a couple times because of that.

The oil pressure "guage" in the dash is junk. You'll be just about out of oil before you notice the needle move. I lost my engine because I relied on that "gauge."

Two others have told me their sender went out.
Sounds like it might be a common thing. Anybody else?

The dash gauge shows normal - - but I'm not crazy about relying on that.
And nope - - this was on a flat just cruising.
I better not run it until fixed, eh? Hate to miss out on good convertible weather.
Nuts.

I would DEFINITELY get it checked out. The sender will either work or not...it doesn't just start to go out. Get a real oil pressure gauge.

Id depend on your dipstick mainly, also if you park on an incline, it well set the sensor off. Especially on the SN-95 (non-new edges).

Ya, check your oil and you'll be fine, just because you are low on oil doesn't mean you'll be low on oil pressure. Its a bad idea to rely on the guage to tell you if you arelow onoil on any vehicle, thats not what its for. Im just saying that your low oil light isn't based on the oil pressure as far as i know so i doubt its the pump.

Well - - here arethe results.

First of all there was a bum low oil sensor. Replaced.

Second, leaking o-rings near oil filter/oil cooler. Possibly just an age related issue. Replaced.

Weather's warm - - top's down - - and no oil light.
