It was easy as hell on my 96 GT. If you have a buddy it is even easier, jack it up and one guy puts it through the pullies on the bottom of the engine, while the other threads it through the top ones. Took me all of 5 seconds, at night, with no light.

I broke my stock belt at 12k miles! I wasn't even being hard on it. Cruising at 1500 RPM / 55 mph... Battery light came on, lights all went dim, steering became real hard, went to stop and couldn't [8D]I got mad.

alright that makes me feel better, thannks guys! ya well after it broke we needed it to get to my friends house, so me,not being a mechanic or anything, thinks i shouldnt drive it, my friends who all 4 of which took autoshop classes for 4 years said i could, after about 7 minutes of driving i stop because i smell coolant, then they realize oh **** i forgot it was connected to the water pump... thankfully i didnt overheat, but my hood was deffinetly smoking lol

It's very easy and I recommend not driving it. All of your friends are idiots for telling you to drive it. Your water pump isn't pumping coolant which will overheat your car, your alternator isn't spinning which could lead to a dead battery and one really crappy running car, and you'll have no power steering. Use a 1/2 inch ratchet. It takes about 2 minutes to change by yourself.

Before you put a new belt on try to determine why the old one shredded.

Replace your tensioner at the same time. It's not expensive.

Use a Goodyear Gatorback belt from Autozone.
