vt stage 1 cams and longtubes ftw. cams = low end power longtubes help high end (at least they did on my car)
Not true.
Cams ALWAYS move the powerband up.
If you go with a camshaft larger than the one already in it, the curve will be pushed to the right. Show me a camshaft and dyno sheet that doesnt do this.

i'll agree. i mean some camshafts will work lower in the midrange than others but none usually help you down in your powerband. even stage ones help more up top than down low or mid range but i haven't seen anyone brag about the results it gave from say 900 rpms to 3 grand and then move on up. my thing with losing power down low is ok because in the 1/4 i rarely see below 3,000 rpms anyways. all my racing is usually from there on up to 6500.

I love the way VT stage 2 cams sound. I know a few kids with the stages 1's and you can't even hear the cams or tell the car has them.

Its a tossup between the two. Unfortunatly the stage 2 cams arn't going to make much more power on a bolton only car than a stage 1 will, and they WILL loose more tq down low.

4.10s and the stage 1 or 2 will be a great combo either way. I picked up 30 WHP at redline with my stage 2s n/a.

then i need to go with some stage 2s because at 5500-6000 rpms I've got no power and it just creeps.

The stage 1s will increase power in that band as well. The stage 2s are made for alittle more RPM than the stock shortblock can handle, and they will pick up a little more at 5500+, but I lost at least a little power between idle and 5500 all the way thru the band, not to mention about 10 FT/LBs of torque.

My tune did suck though, that shop didn't know wtf they were doing. Once I got the blower on and tune in the first thing the dyno guy said was "wow, that blower really likes those cams".
