Default how to remove light pull-out switch beside gauges?

Hey everyone, I'm trying to install a new tach in my 2000 gt and have run into some problems. I cannot get the light **** off, I feel like im going to break it when I pull on it so im uncertain how it comes off. Also if anyone has any insight on how to hook up my new tach any thoughts would be appreciated. (limited instructions were provided)

Thanks
-Tyler

You will need a tach adapter to hook the tach up. To remove the ****, get a good grasp on it, and pull straight back really hard. It should come right off

You can do it that way if you want to break it. You need to take a small flat tip screw driver and stick it in the slot and push the metal clip then pull it right off.

Edit Where did my laughing guy go that I posted earlier. Now it makes me look like I was quoting for emphasis, haha. *adds him back*

^^^^^^^ +1

what i ended up doing is getting a pant can opener and grinding down a bit to fit. it provided alot more leverage then the flat head.

First you put your feet on the dash.... then you grab the handle.... then you pull like sumabitch... Actually, I used one of those screw drivers that just come to a point at the end.

Thanks for the imput guys, I was able to get the damn thing off eventually...took like 15minutes lol but now I am just trying to figure out exactly which wires I need to connect to, to make this tach work....too many wires so I'm just getting a wiring diagram for the car from a friends ford dealership.

Im pretty sure you tap into pin 26 and pin 104 in the ecu harness not the cluster.
pin 26 is the c.o.p wire and is light green with white
pin 104 is a power wire and is red
Then ground it near the ecu with the ground that is there.

Next time use the smallest allen wrench u can find. Mine came off easily in seconds, the angle in the wrench makes it a lot easier.
