The steering shaft passes through the header. Got to twist the header around a bit to get it to go through.

how long of a job is it? im doing my bullit intake swap soon and then im doing lt's but i think i might just take it to a shop since i have heard how make a pita they can be. i was thinking Mac headers because they fit with the auto tranny bit i think im going to try those cam headers on ebay since they are ss and really cheap and look to be good quality.

the steering shaft does NOT go through the headers on Mac.... You need to disconnect it adn then bolt the headers up and then just reconnect it... I did mine about 2 months ago.

Well I have done 5 MAC installs and I know that the shaft goes thru it. BBK headers have a dent in them to let the shaft go around them. Thats probably what you have.
