Magnaflow Magnapack Problems

RE: Magnaflow Magnapack Problems
ORIGINAL: 04BlueGT
I have MagnaFlows and the fit was just fine. However, they are assembled by humans, so errors do happen. One thing I noted when I installed mine was that I started from the rear and worked forward rather than follow the directions and go front to back. My only problem was my left tip didn't fix quite tight enough and would vibrate forward making it look shorter than the right. I added a stainless hose clamp and fixed the issue. Sorry we couldn't help more, but your issues seem more the exception than the rule.

I have the Magnaflow system as well (15671) and the fit on mine was fine as well.
With the tips, you have to use a hex socket to tighten them because you will never get enough torque with just an allen wrench.
By Hex socket I mean a socket that has the appropriate allen wrench tip embedded in the head.
One other thing that I find is people don't leave the system loose and adjust everything for proper fit.
You really have to play with the angle of the mufflers, how far in you push the pipes into each other, the angle of the tailpipe and so forth.
Moving just one piece can upset the balance of the entire thing and on top of that you can achieve length not only by pulling pipes out further but also by rotating the tail pipe slightly.
This applies to any exhaust system.
FWIW my biggest problem was the pipe hitting the rear stabilizer bar.
I played with it for an hour before I hit the magic combination of length and twist and it's been fine since.
