4.10 gears question

Default 4.10 gears question

i want to buy some 4.10 gears for my 4 speed and they recommended me Richmond, but i wlas looking the specifications and it says 30 splines, how many splines does my car have? and wich brand of gears is better?

The stocker should have 28 spline axles in it. Are you talking about the pinion splines? If so, I think 30 is the right number.

You should check out www.americanmuscle.comthey usually have great prices on just about all the basic bolton stuff you can get for our cars, and they also have rearend swap kits that include everything you need.

My local performance shop says richmond make horrible gears. One incident he had to replace the sets twice in 3 weeks.

i've never used richmond but the shop that did mine did not recommend... he recommended ford because they are the least to whine....i put ford explorer 373s in mine.

+1 on the Ford gears. I went with Ford racing 4.30 gears.

Richmond gears are noisy, but they are very strong. The noise is a result of the cut used.
