So you guys are all saying a 5.4 doesnt make anymore power than a 4.6 The 5.4 has more displacement and the same top end. But they're both mod motors so the 5.4 doesnt make much more power with the exact same top end.

Triton 4.6: 231hp at 4750rpm and 293ft·lb of torque at 3450rpm
Triton 5.4: 260hp at 4500rpm with 350ft·lb of torque at 2500rpm.

The baseline 5.4 makes 30 more hp and 60 more trq than the 4.6 and at lower rpms. . .
The 5.4 block is physically larger(taller) then a 4.6 thus compensating for the longer stroke...the problem with stroking a 4.6 is the piston becomes unstable at BDC and can wobble...that is not good. The 5.4 is also prone to this if you were to stroke it to say 6.1 (example)

Now do a BigBore to either of them and you will add stable/reliable HP/TQ gains...
If i was going to get a stroker on a modular i would go with the Livernois kit...they put alot of R&D into trying to solve the BDC issues.

does it have a larger bore though? we're just tlaking about stroking the motor
No it's exactly the same bore size.

i was told that you would see more power increase from a big bore kit than a stroker mostly because the stroke on a 4.6 is close to the stroke of a 351 or a 347 (i forget which one), so you wouldnt be getting that much more of a stroke but a big bore kit would open it wider to get more power.

You are exactly right. VT sells a 324ci Big Bore Stroker Motor. Oh what I'd do to get my hands on that!

Can you imagine a 324ci 4v N/A beast? HOLY @#$%
