Can I use this firewall grommet?

Can I use this firewall grommet?
I want to run my vacuum line for my boost gauge through this grommet. Can I just poke a hole in it and run it under the dash? BTW, what you see on the side of the engine bay isn't rust, it's inchworm poop. They're everywhere! My car sat under a tree during my blower install.
