My tuner just told me that the fuel level (i.e. 1/4 tank, etc.) has nothing to do with it. He explained that the fact that the pump is sucking so hard at WOT causes the basket to empty and the hole that is currently there does not allow enough fuel in to the basket to keep up with the pump, thus causing you to run out of fuel. He told me I probably shouldn't worry about it if we keep it around 400 rwhp.

That is mostly true except below 1/4 tank there is not as much pressure on the basket as when the tank is full. But he is exactly right about the fuel pump sucking a lot of fuel. To me its not a big deal to have it done as it only takes about 5 minutes and then you don't have to worry about running out of fuel. It's a peace of mind thing at this point to me. I know plenty of guys who don't do it and the car runs fine but IMO its just a good thing to do.

I didn't try removing the entire basket...how does it come out? If only I had known about this before I would have done it yesterday when it was apart.
