Step 1 of getting blown is complete
Put in the SVT Focus fuel pump today. I'm making this post b/c I simply had to get off my chest how important it is that the write-ups for the damned fuel pump install be changed to say that you need a freaking retractable magnet to do it. The screws for the pump cover can easily fall into the tank, which would, how do you say...suck. I used the magnet (which was amazingly strong) to remove the screws once loose, and to reinstall them. My genius self managed to bump the ratchet against the side of the tank and so the socket fell off into the mother f'r, so I had to use the magnet to get it out.
Anyway it was pretty easy, but time consuming with having sockets falling into the tank, etc...haha.
Can't wait for the next step. Hell one day the "step" may just be installing the supercharger...

Sweet... I'm about to do the same thing this week some time. What all did you have to do when swapping in the svt pump? I've read use the focus pump, the mustang sending unit, and drill a bunch of holes somewhere or it willl run out of gas when below half a tank

all you need to do is swap the SVT pump iteself into the GT assembly and reinstall. Don't drill holes in anything, its not going to do anything funny at 1/2 a tank (at least mine doesn't).

Most shops recommend drilling a couple (or just one big) hole in the basket. If you don't do this and you run the car hard under 1/4 tank you can run out of fuel to the pump thus creating a lean condition and KABOOM or at the best case a severe loss of power.

I have not had this issue, but generally speaking I try to keep it over a 1/4 tank anyway. The gas helps cool the pump, and the last thing you want to do is heat the **** out of the pump.

Hah, man I totally did the same thing. I was fishing around with a magnet and couldn't find it. I didn't think I was going to find it so I started pulling the magnet back up and wouldn't you know...there was the screw.

When you pull the basket out it kinda has a notch in it if I remember correctly. Mine was drilled there but pretty much any spot that you see fit. Be sure to not have anything in the basket while you are doing it, I know a common sense thing but it's always a good idea to remind people. O and don't smoke while you are doing this...
