I have bbk shorties, the sound is improves with an h but makes it worse with an x , i have a 97 vert with a 99 pi motor, the LT's wouldnt fit , so i was stuck with shorties or stock manifolds. all in all i like them, they still flow alot better than the stock ones.

would i prefer LT's proly, but i am happy with my shorties, also the fact the headers dont hang so low is a plus also

i have the jba cat4ward shorties and there was absolutely no difference in the sound other than the leak that came with them (due to idiots installing them). you just need to find somebody to pass your smog for you.i'm in cali also and i'm switching out to longtubes in the next month

In comparsion to the stock exhaust manifold vs shorty headers I'd say that even the shorty headers have got to help somehow. I just can't believe for a second that stock manifolds and shorty headers are on the same level of performance. I've got BBK shorty's and can't really tell you if that helped by it's self or not because I put the x-pipe, catback, cai, and tune all at the same time. But from what I can tell I like them. I know LT's are best I'm not trying to down play them.

if all your wanting is a sound change you should be looking into your midpipe and catback. It will make a difference (somewhat) in sound but nothing like the mid/catback, and its a large expense just for sound.

What are you wanting to change about your sound? If all your looking for is more volume get your midpipe on, if thats not enough either change your mufflers or try going with dumps (just pull your pipes off the mufflers and test drive it a little to see if you like it).

Nah, i think its they dont fit automatics easily.. have to grind down the tranny housing or some sh*t. I had shorties, they do help a little i think i got 1 HP when i went for a dyno tune. but LT's are better if you want performace. My exhaust was deeper AND louder. Not one mod on my car has made it quiter.. I WOULDNT HAVE THAT!!
