If he only drops it 2" or so it will not make his car bounce [>:]

There is nothing wrong with cutting the spring as long as you do not heat it while doing so. Use a band saw, cutoff wheel, or chop saw.

AND if he already has Steeda springs, he's not dropping it that much with his coil cut. On most cars one coil = about 2" A cut spring will increase the spring rate and make your car ride a bit stiffer, but dropping it an extra 1" by cutting a 1/2 coil, I will bet you a lot of money you will never notice the difference in the ride.

I've got the Ford C springs and the install directions actually say you can cut up to one coil from the front and rear to achieve the ride height you want.
An 18" wheel should look the same as a 17" wheel as far as wheel well gap goes. When switching to a bigger wheel you want to size the new tire to match the stock tire diameter so that your speedo and odometer stay correct. Last thing you want is your car to register more miles than your car really has because of a crappy tire selection.

Only if you get tires that have a larger overall diameter to go with your new wheels, but that will throw off your speedo and odo.

Wheel size has nothing to do with overall diameter of your tire.

That example of the Mustang with "Sportlines" seems to be dropped evenly in the back as in the front, it doesn't have that aggresivve look.

18's will give the illusion of a smaller gap in the wheel well, but Blue70 is right, you need to make the correct tire selection so as not to throw off your speedo and odometer.

I have steeda sport springs with no isolators up front with 18" wheels and that's basically the height I'm at.... I love it...
