RE: PI Port and Polish pictures
Is this an attempt to port match or just port to port? I would say in my opinion, that the port should be taken all the way out to near the end of the black, otherwise you'll still get that whirlwind effect that traps air and fuel in the intake port of the head above the valve, therefore robbing power. OR, maybe I'm just nuts about these PI heads and I'm looking for anyway possible to make them how I'd like them to be.

i took as much metal off as possible. i used some blue ink and marked out how much i could take off using the gaskets and then took off the same amount all the way down the port. What really robs you of power is around the valve guides. what i did was grind them down so that they where sharp but still enough metal there to keep them strong. I took off about a 1/4 inch all the way around the intake ports, but for the exhaust i couldnt take anywhere near that amount off. i basicly just ended up polishing the exhaust to get rid of the grittyness of the casting of the head. i'd say i picked up about another 25 hp from investing about 20 hours of CAREFUL work into them.
basicly this is how it breaks down. PI swap gives about 45, and add another 25. thats about 70 more hp for a total of 650 bucks....can you beat that bang for your buck? being a college kid with hardly any money. it helped me out that it was cheap!
