Default w00t w00t! Plenum and TB here!

just got my TB and plenum tonight. I got home at 7pm and the UPS driver didn't come. Mike (first name basis with the UPS driver[8D], he use to deliver to where I worked) showed up about 8:00 late night with the weather he said. He is looking forward to tomorrow.

Just have a couple of questions, I will post some images first.

Sorry took so long, wasn't able to get on the site.

Should I polish the plenum? or atleast remove the slag ( I will remove to large loose slag near the vent bore)

Thanks!

of course polish it, polish the entire inside but don't remove any material unless its to smooth out casting flaws

Probably going to wire brush the slag and casting inperfections out then use some 400 or 600 paper to smooth it all out. Should take a bit of time

I have seen a guy on Ebay that will polish plenums for about 60bucks. I will probably spend more then 3hrs doing it so it might be worth it.

Nah, I'll do it. What else am I going to do there is 8inches of snow and now ice coming down outside!

Get a 60 and a 120 grit flap wheel, use a fairly high speed drill(2000 RPM)and clean it up.Start with the 60 grit first and finish with the 120.Match the mating surfaces so that they join with no"proud "edges.I did this to my Accufab plenum and it looked almost to good to install, almost. You can clean up MAJOR flaws with a carbide burr, but I doubt you'll need one.

Thanks for the tip. Planed on using a wire brush wheel to chip the slag off and then going in with a ott grade wire wheel to finish it off.

One thing I can't get over yet is how huge both the plenum and TB are. They look so much smaller on the car[8D]

Yeah they are huge. I got my C&L plenum the other day. I didnt polish mine cuz I really wanted to get it on my car, but when I get my TB I will probably end up doing some work to the plenum while im working on the car.
