Default Difficult Clutch Choice...

So it's that time, clutch is just about fried.

So to start, I'm not the greatest manual driver, I've only been at it about a month :P so I want something that doesn't engage SUPER FAST, but something that can also take a good beating.

I've driven a G35 sedan a lot, and I HATE it, soo hard to drive, my friend has a Spec Stage 1 in his 2000 V6 stang, and that engages WAY too fast. I test drove an '07 conertible GT today to try it's clutch, and I thought it was very good, I'd like something like that for my new one.

So I think my options now are:
-stock
-ford racing king cobra
-anything else someone can suggest that meets my needs

Thanks for any help!!

You'll be happy with the FRPP King Cobra. It's very forgiving.

you can change the engagement, be sure to get a steeda clutch kit or something similar with the adjuster that mounts on the firewall.

then adjust the clutch so it starts to grab about 1 - 1 1/2" above the floor. [8D]

Where the clutch disengages is relative to personal driving preferences. I personally like my clutch to disengage about mid-throw of the clutch pedal.

But isn't that only controlling WHERE it engages? Not actually the amount of "bite" it has?

I have also no preference as to where it engages, just as long as it engages slowly.

Can anyone else comment on the engagement of the King Cobra kit? I'd like to order tomorrow (Sunday) night, and it's a pretty important decision so I'm looking for as many opinions as I can get.

Thanks

Also, what would be the technical difference between a Spec Stage 1, and the stock '07 GT I drove today that makes the Spec engage super hard, but the '07 allowed for some slippage making for a smoother launch??

You can only get better at driving stick, not worse. How hard a clutch "bites" will only be hard for the first few weeks driving a car, you get used to it fast. I went from a ford explorer 5 speed to my mustang, when I first started driving it the clutch felt like it caught HARD, now I can slip it without giving it a thought.
