Throw out bearing. If pushing in the clutch gets rid of it, this is what it is. It is not the engine.

I had a bad throwout bearing when I bought my car too, and I thought it was making a sound I was hearing, but I had ashop do the clutch and it was still there! I put it up in the air and check it with a guy in the shop I work at (I'm a parts guy) and it ended up being the flywheel backing plate was touching the flywheel, barely! We took a big regular screwdriver and pryed it back and it went away. Its now coming back a little so I need to do it again.

Idon't understand how they couldn't have seem this when they took everything apart? Makes me wonder if they actually re-surfaced the flywheel like I paid for?
