We have gone over this before, but nothing with a 2v in it is going to ever be a "collectors item".
regardless of model, they simply made too many of them.Take a look at the 60's cars... only the most rare and oddball cars are worth ANYTHING. It might sound like a great deal to spend 3K on a brand new car (in the 60s) and then get 25K for it now... but take into account the value of money at the time and now, plus the cost of uppkeep and restoration... you NEVER come out ahead.

neither, get a mach one or cobra. Between the gt and bullit, the bullit is more the collectible due to lower production. Keep it stock as possible though and the mileage low.

honestly, take a look at the prices of cars from the 60s.
You can pick up a 65 V8 with the orignal motor and trans, plus mostly orignal stuff (or factory style replacement) for around what, 5-8K?? Find a somewhat rare model, say a 1969 mach 1 with a 351W and even in completely restored condition your only looking at 20-25K.
Almost 40 years old, and its not even worth the value of a brand new off the floor run of the mill GT, let alone todays cobra etc.
Unless your picking up something rare, like a cobra R or a BB stang from the 60s with all orignal parts (not restored) you simply will not come out ahead in any way. You can't tell me your going to buy a 15K car, save it for 40 years, and then be happy selling it for basically the same price plus inflation you bought it for (if that).
They simply made TOO many of them. Your talking about a car that with V6 and GT numbers put together put out well over 100K of a year... its just not rare enough to be worth anything.
Buy the one you like the best, mod the hell out of it, and when you get tired of it sell it at a major loss... thats the name of the game

+1 thats exactly it. we just arent lucky enough to have the kind of car made today that will be worth more later in life than it is now. to tell you the truth i dont think it will ever be that way again, unless you're going to buy a lambo or a rolls royce. THOSE cars may appreciate in value in 20 or 30 years
