A/T problems (Flashing OD off light)
Alright, O/D off light started flashing today, it refuses to shift...
I know the flashing O/D light is essentially the check engine light, for the transmission.
How do I go about figuring out what the problem is? Is there a code that can be scanned? What are the common causes of this?
It's a 99 expedition 4wd, but it's the same automatic tranny as in the stangs, figured someone here would know.

RE: A/T problems (Flashing OD off light)
Bump. I know there's people out there who have had transmission problems.
Edit: Update. Has no reverse unless you rev it pretty high. Works fine when it's cold, once it warms up, it starts slipping and having problems. PLEASE HELP. I want to at least diagnose the problem before I take it some place or attempt to fix it myself. Are there diagnostic codes for the automatic transmissions? How do I access them?

Ok, thanks again. The only issue is that it only takes a matter of minutes for it to slip out of drive (shift it into 2 to keep driving) and it'll go for a while, then 2nd will slip out, shift it to first, and before long first will start slipping also.
One final bump.
One final bump.

Mine did it once. I have an aftermarket t-handle and I rewired the o/d button to a toggle on the dash. I guess the wires had come loose and it caused the problem. I just re-connected the toggle and reset the computer by unplugging the battery for a few minutes.

I got a new Torque Converter and a few smaller little things that were replaced for insurance and the total with parts and Labor came out to $2568.83
I was like DAYUM! But whatever. I'm sure the stealership isn't any better. I just told the guy "Whatever just get the damm thing back on the road." 4 days later, it runs like a charm.
Makes me wish I had more mechanical skills.
