Decisions / Decisions

I'm currently looking for a weekend warrior drag car and I've got a couple options here and not sure what route to take for this one.

1. Pull the 106k mile motor and trans out of my 96 and put a 351W in. If possible, I'm not sure if anybody had gone this route or not but it seemed good on paper since the availability and cost of parts for the 351W. If possible what would be needed for the swap, k-member? motor mounts? wiring? ($ is an issue).

2. Buy a fox body and build that up and use the 96 as a cruiser.

Thanks

Its just doesn't make good since from a money/performance value to try to do a pushrod swap. The 2v 4.6L can make excellent power with great realibiltiy so long as you are willing to go FI.

If you acutally price out a "built" (not stock) 351 build you would be surprised at the cost. I was considering doing a LX notch fox build with a 351, but the engine costs alone were in the 5-6K range, not to mention tranmission etc etc.

With FI, you can reliaibly build a 2v to make 550+ to the tire on the stock heads/intake with the right setup. Its still expensive, but its going to be more streetable and less of a headache (and still less expensive) than trying to build a pushrod and put it in... not to mention it will still be street legal.

Those two lines can not co-inhabit the same space.

So you are saying it's cheaper to get alow mileage4.6 go FI rather than a built 351W? I don't think going FI on a 106k stock engine is a good idea.
