Default 2nd to 3rd gear problem

This has just been happening alot more recently but when I shift from 2nd to 3rd it feels like I keep getting it stuck in between the 1st and 3rd slots. Now when I shift I have to slightly aim the shift to the right more. Any ideas? I'm probably going to get an extended warrenty on the Mach and then have it completely checked up on.

just sounds to me like you dont know where the gears are yet. keep driving it and the problem will disappear.

+1 A little practice and all will be well. Some will suggest changing the shifter so you don't have to practice as much, but the stocker is fine.

There's a TSB (04-15-6) that is specifically directed at the '01-'03 models--however it might be relevant. When I changed the tranny juice in my '03 I used the lesser amount (3.0L, 3.2 qts.) and the 2-3 shift became much smoother. The lower oil level reduces hydro-locking of the shift rods and detents.

could that be why my second gear pops out when I am going really slow or going around a slow corner, like in a parking lot. Under acceleration it's just fine, and it only does it everyonce and a while.

Could be, that's one of the symptoms listed in the TSB--try changing the tranny oil and only using 3.0L to refill...
