exhaust clarification
OK I'm a total noob at this stuff. Can someone plz lay out all the different areas in the exhaust system for me, like headers, mid pipes, etc, etc. Also when people say their system is "catted" does that mean it has catalytic (sp?) coverters?

RE: exhaust clarification
Ok, There are three seperate parts to an exhaust system.
#1) The exhaust manifolds. They come in several different types such as shortie headers, mid length headers, equal length headers, and long tube headers. They bolt to the motor.
#2) The mid pipe. There are two different types of midpipes for Mustangs. H pipe and X pipe. These come id different variaties also. The H and X pipe can either be off road (O/R = No catalytic converters. i.e Cats) or they can be Catted. Most of the time people that want to go catted get the high flow cats because they are a lot less restrictive than the stockers. There is also a difference in midpipes depending on the type of headers you use. If you have Long tube headers then you will need what is called a shortie X or H pipe. Its a shorter version because the longtube headers are so much longer than stock manifolds or shorties headers.
#3) The catback. The Catback is everything from the rear of the midpipe to the end of the tail pipes to include the mufflers.
