Default What kind of oil?

Hey guys and gals,

I am stuck with a delima(sorry s.p.). I have used Mobil1 with fram filters on my last 2 cars. I have always had good luck, comes out almost the same color it went in. With the new whip, i have been thinking of using royal purple and k-n filter(oil). Anyone use it? You like it? Don't like it? Input would be appreciated! Thanks

10-30 synthic as stated above..I use the k/n oil filter it's good but the amsoil filter in my opinion is one of the best
your oil in no way should be the same color coming out..if oil does it's job it will be dark..so your oil isn't cleaning or your cleaning it way too ofter

DON'T USE A FRAM FILTER. The filter media is paper GLUED to cardboard ends with a s**tty valve design....not cool.

But the K&N is a great choice.

Mobil 1 Synthetic is a bad *** choice. It offers as good/better protection and lubrication as the Royal Purple but it's an assload cheaper.

10-30? The manual says 5-20. I know my dad's focus takes a special blend for ford motors it is a funny weight oil, I can't remeber what it is now. But he noticed better gas mileage and pick-up when the shop he takes it to finally pick it up.

I change my oil every 3000 to 4000 miles. I know you can go further on an oil change with synthetic. Force of habit to change it at 3000. 1st quart comes out dirty the rest is slightly darker in color then when it went in.

Ordered a case of Royal Purple in 5-20, and ordering k-n filters today. Lot of money for oil but 95% of my car friends run it in there cars and have very good luck with it. Never really had a car worth the money 'till now!

that 5-20 is so you go to the dealership to get the oil changed...changing for a 10-30 to 5-20 will not increase hp....using 10-30 syenthic will and protects so much better at start up where 75+% of wear is..if you want even better protection buy an oil primper you can connect it to your oil pressure sending unit and when oil pressure is at 20 for ex. car will start so there is never a dry start. if auto maker wanted you in your car for 10 years and 200k plus miles they would install one on your car.food for thought

5k oil change is about right with synethic..I buy a 5 qt jug@ walmart for 18.88and k/n oil filter for 10.00..28.88 plus taxes..using the 5k change it will cost you about the same as a 3k change oil reg oil. so you gain hp,less wear, better mgh..for the same $$$

Synthetic oil is the way to go, hands down. It will give you a couple hp, 1..2..3..heh and like vfast said, it gets to where it needs to be much faster than conventional oil.

The 5qt jug @ walmart sounds like an awesome deal vfast, I normally pay about $24.99 for a 6qt box at Advance.. ::hops in car:: heh.
